Memorial Park, Hartford

The Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Arch in Hartford’s Bushnell Park. The Park River, diverted underground during a 1940s flood control project, is in the foreground. Card was mailed in 1907 to Milton, Massachusetts, by someone who apparently owes his Nana some money. And probably an explanation.

Harten House, Waterbury

Harten House, Waterbury

The former Waterbury Inn, with a new roof, survives today as the Super 8 off Scott Road. Harten House, which proclaimed itself to be “Waterbury’s finest restaurant,” is today’s Ninos. We can only wonder at the magic that started in the daiquiri-scented ambiance of Harten House’s cleverly named Nightcap Lounge.
