Reception building has been replaced by a Red Lobster, but the motel building survives as a Comfort Inn. Postcard wasn’t mailed, but bears a notation reading “1st night, Sept 20 1975.” Note doesn’t specify other highlights from that Saturday night, or what “first” may refer to.

Groton Battle Monument
The Groton Battle Monument, dedicated in 1830, honors the more than 80 men killed defending the fort during a British raid on Fort Griswold in 1781. The Civil War monument was dedicated in 1916. Postcard wasn’t mailed.
